Snow Day & Awana Racing

I'm not a fan of snow, cold or winter in general.  That's no secret.  However, I do enjoy an occasional snow day when everyone is forced home and there is enough snow to actually play outside.  Nemo gave us a nice snow day.  I hate having the snow around for a long time afterwards, but moving on... Hanging out waiting to get snowed in!  Playing outside a few hours into the snow.   The picture above is when the snow was still falling.   The picture below is the next morning.  You can see the snowfall amount difference by the height of it on the van wheels.  Definitely enough snow to give Chad a workout with the shovel!  The official totals were around 18 inches, but of course the drifts were higher.   The backyard Oh how I miss a garage! ' Time for some sledding!  I didn't join in, but did go out to watch. Snow day activities... Addison pushed Mya in the stroller ...

Recent Recipes

I've never been consistent with belly pictures!  This was a couple weeks ago (around 20 weeks).  Things are definitely different with #3! For those following our eating journey, here's an update.  We are finding a better balance in eating.  I am finding myself much more comfortable with a whole, natural food approach instead of extreme low/no carb. This blog has been the biggest inspiration for me -  http://www.100daysofrealfood.com/ I have mentioned this blog before.  It feel realistic for me and at this point, that is what I need.   It is amazing to see how far we have come in just six months though.  Sure, we have our moments - like bread and apple crisp on Valentines Day, but we need those moments for our sanity.  But we have definitely achieved a new normal of a less carbs, very little sugar and very few processed foods.   Here are a few of the recipes from the past few weeks: Just in case you think things a...

Valentines Festivities

Honest truth - I am terrible at holidays other than Christmas.  If something requires cooking, I'm all about it, but little gifts and craftiness...not me.  Halloween, Valentines, even Easter - so many of the typical gifts are candy and junk!  I just don't want to waste our time or money on it.  Now that I sound like a total scrooge...here's what we did for Valentines! :) I am trying to embrace celebrating the meaning behind holidays that come along and find little treats that don't give me a heart attack.   Thankfully we don't get loads of candy or junk food from GA on holidays either.  I supposed my voice has been heard. ;)  Addison opening her package from Nana.   Instead of candy or treats, I decided to take to the girls to get their toes done for Valentines.  What girl doesn't love pretty toes?? Beautiful! I have no issues making junk for cadets!  Poor cadets!  I guess I figure they are going...

February Goals

My friend Regan is keeping me accountable with goals this year being so faithful to hers!   I'm all about measurable goals...probably too much so.  I need to have something to measure at small increments to keep myself on track.  I am happy to say that January has seen some improvement with scheduling!  Since I got a late start though, I didn't have specific goals for January itself.  Now 2 days into February, here we go with the specific goals.   -   Read   1 chapter of  Proverbs each day ·        Start Beth Moore Bible Study .  I am very excited about this!  I have done Beth Moore studies before, but it has been a long time.  Our chaplain has been preaching through the book of James on Sundays, James is a great parallel study to Proverbs and it is one of my favorite books - all great reasons to start with this study. I've ordered the book and can download the audio s...
