Master Bedroom

Decorating Continued...here is the Master Bedroom. I apologize in advance for the not so great quality of pictures. It wasn't the best light...but hey, as a momma of two, I'm lucky to even have a blog, forget the perfect pictures! :)

My theme in decorating right now is NO CLUTTER and using things I really like, not just the cheapest thing on the rack. I have a few more things I would like to get for this room, but I'll just wait until I see something that really grabs my attention.

My absolute favorite show right now is Sarah's House on HGTV. It comes on Friday and Saturday nights (not sure what time...thank you DVR!). It is only 30 minutes, so once I fast forward the commercials, I can squeeze in an episode pretty easily. Each season she renovates a house and each episode is focused on one room. I love it b/c you see the end product in the same episode. I love her style and wish I had time to stroll through antique stores and auctions to find great deals like she does! She would so not approve of my bedroom design b/c it is all a set and it is all new, but we like it.

Love that blue bowl from Pier 1!!
This is the notorious Pottery Barn lamp! I knew I wanted white lamps in our room. Why oh why did I want white lamps?? They are not easy to find!! I saw these online from Pottery Barn Teen and loved them. I debated forever b/c they were a little pricey and finally decided to get them. I thought I could find simple shades cheaper, so I just got the lamps. Three weeks later after searching EVERY store in Watertown and looking all over the internet, I bought the lamp shades too...at Chad's insistence b/c he was tired of my shopping for lamp shades! I LOVE these lamps though!
Buying a duvet was similar to buying the lamps - lots of buying and returning. One day Addison said, "Mom are you a duvet collector?" ha! If you want a duvet to fit well on a queen size bed, you have to get a king size duvet - thank you Krista! I ended up getting this one online from Macy's - regular $360, I paid - $69!!! The cover and pillow set are from Pottery Barn too. I know you pay for the name Pottery Barn, but I love their stuff b/c it is so simple and timeless. I love the look, but am already doubting my choice of white every time Addison crawls onto our bed!

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
