Care Package 101

I was geared up to write this post tonight, but bedtime took the wind out of my sails!  Addison has been quite a handful the past week and needless to say she had an emotional moment tonight.  Poor kid.  She was pretty tired from not taking a nap today and had a hard time going to sleep.  I went in to check on her and she was clutching her new Build a Bear and playing Chad's voice over and and over.  She was bawling.  What do you say to a 3 year old when, through tears she asks if Daddy is going to be gone a long, long, long time or why he had to go?  I know it will help when Chad is in a more predictable schedule and she can see him on the computer.  Blackberry messenger right now just doesn't do much for little ones.

Moving on...

I might as well sign my friend Regan's name to this post because it is what she did to give ideas of what to send to her husband.  Some of the pictures are even hers! :)

I wish I could give you a long list of stuff Chad loved to get in his care packages... unfortunately he is never overflowing with ideas of things he would like.  So before you rush out and buy any of these item, I'll see how they go over!  Also, Chad normally doesn't really NEED much of anything as he has access to basic necessities.

Priority Flat Rate boxes are the best way to get stuff to him.  You have to fill out a customs form.  If you want Chad's address, just email me - caslmonroe@gmail.com

Candy!  Chad has never met a candy he didn't like.  These are just a few of his favorites.  Go easy on the candy though...think poor nutrition and cavities still matter even during deployments! :) j/k

I wish I could box up fresh fruit and ship it over, but since that won't work, I am going to give theses a shot.  I'll let you know what he says!
Fruit Snacks - might as well be candy, but he loves them.  Addison picked these out for him.  I had to veto the My Little Pony fruit snacks to send to Daddy!
I know Chad will enjoy these water flavor packs, but I'm sure he will have an opinion about which flavor/kind he likes best.  I also have some regular gatorade packs to send.  I know grape will not be a flavor of choice.

This was my brother's suggestion - Starbucks via.  If my brother will drink it, it must be GOOD instant coffee!  I think it is a great idea and I hope Chad can use it.

Chad loves nuts almost as much as he likes candy.  I am hoping these individual packs will be handy for him to have.  He also loves sunflower seeds.

Just a few more random snacks.

I realize this is all food related items.  If he mentions other things he would use, I will post those as well.

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
