family update...retry

I know I've left the blog very lonely these days.  I sat down the other night and wrote a lengthy update on all that we have been doing lately.  Blogger is not cooperating with me lately and the whole post was erased when I tried to upload it.  So here's another attempt.  Definitely won't be as lengthy though!

The question everyone is asking is - when is Chad is coming home??  While I won't be sharing any specifics on here for security reasons, I can say that it is getting close!  We are all getting anxious.  The end is tough b/c you are so close and yet it feels like time is crawling.  There is no one more ready than Chad.  We would appreciate your continued prayers as his unit wraps up their mission and that they can stay focused in this time.

The girls and I have been very busy.  Our FRG is keeping me very busy.  Between meetings, reintegration trainings, at least 1 social each week, supper club, and making preparations for the single soldiers return, its been a crazy pace.  It is exhausting, but there are few things as rewarding as helping family members get ready to welcome their soldiers home.

I am also on the Steering Committee for our MOPS group as the Finance Coordinator.  I am so thankful to have a great partner helping me in this role.  The first of the year is always the busiest in MOPS so hopefully I can get most of my responsibilities under control before Chad gets home.  It has definitely been a learning curve, which is always an uncomfortable process.

In addition to these big responsibilities, I've been helping train a new Pampered Chef consultant, working my own business, trying to maintain a running schedule and trying to keep up with housework, being a mommy and Addison's school.  I have 2 more races this season and want to finish strong.  It has just been really hard to find time to get in the gym.  Addison is still loving school and doing a great job.  I am trying to use the Letter of the Week theme because Addison likes the focus on one letter a week, but I am adding more challenging activities from the K4 curriculum.

Thankfully Chad's mom is going to come in a few days early to help me get my house in order before he gets here.  So thankful for the help and expert cleaning skills she will bring! :)

I still need to write a post on our trip to GA, but I will say that it was an incredible spiritual boost for me.  I had the chance to go to Passion City and go to my brother's Sunday School class.  The Lord used both of those to renew and refresh my spirit!  While there are many moments I am still ready to give in and many days I feel like I'm just hanging on for the next weeks, but I am confident that we will make it and we will be better for it on the other end.

Hopefully I will have time to get the blog updated soon.  If not though...just be looking for some exciting pictures of our hero walking in the hanger doors! :)

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
