Mya - 21 months

Here are some updated pictures of Mya Mya...

I really know nothing about photography, but taking pictures like this one make me so glad I have a nice camera!

When she looks at this picture she screams "PAPI!"

Look at those curls!!

I will have to come back and update this later...because I don't even have a recent picture of Miss Mya for this post! **Now I do! My camera has been gathering dust lately and I need to get it back out!!

I know I said this in the last Mya post, but she is getting to be more like a little girl and less like a baby every day. She is talking more, copying her sister more, wanting to do things on her own and at times has definitely taken a turn toward the terrible twos! Still sweet Mya, but certainly knows how to throw a fit when she doesn't get her way!

- She is running and climbing up and down stairs on her own.

- She thinks she can jump. If you ask her to jump, she bends down, pauses and then stands up quickly. SO cute!

- She is saying way to many words to count. A few of my favorites - Papi (pacifier), neeeen up (clean up), Bupples, turkey (we see lots of wild turkeys around here), hewoah (hello) Lu you, "mommy, baby cccyin'!"

- She has finally learned to say her own name, and we still call her Mya Mya most of the time.

- weight - 22 lbs.

- length - not sure.

- She has 11 teeth! She cut all 4 molars at the same time and just this week finally cut another tooth on the bottom to go with the 2 middle teeth she has had for a while.

- She is over the strawberry strike! She does not like tomato sauce though - no spaghetti, no pizza, etc... She is generally a good eater.

- Favorite foods - bananas, peanut butter (by the spoonful), grapes, mac and cheese, pinto beans, yogurt.  Her new favorite - Humus! I know crazy, but I was eating it and she wanted to try it.  She will eat it plain off a spoon, forget the pita chip!

- I still give her the squeezable baby food as snacks. It is basically her only source of veggies right now besides green beans. She will eat a little broccoli, but Addison and I eat a lot of fresh veggies that are too hard for her.

-Is still a champion sleeper. Wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00 (or later!). She Never whimpers when it is time to go to sleep. She naps from 1-4 each day...sometimes longer and goes down by 8. She would go down by 7:30, but most days I just can't get her there that quickly!

- Still loves brushing her teeth. I just got her a little electric toothbrush and she thinks she is big stuff to have a toothbrush like her sister. She stands on her tip toes, stretches her neck out and "spits" into the sink. May sound gross, but its pretty stinkin' cute.

- Shoe size - 4

Still in size 4 diapers, but this is definitely our last box of this size. Addison never moved past a 4 except overnight diapers when she was potty training b/c a 5 is all they sold in the brand I liked!

- Clothes size - 18-24 months. She is going to start needing her own clothes more and more. When I pulled out the 18 month-2T bin, some of the 18 month pants that Addison wore all winter don't fit her. Addison is definitely a skinny minnie! Mya's little thighs and tummy are not like her sister's. Which is fun for me - who doesn't like to buy girl clothes! :)

- She gets very excited whenever Chad comes on the webcam. Now that he doesn't have internet anymore, many days she will look at the computer and say "Daddy??"

-Still using a paci. That will be an after deployment battle!

- Her hair is still very curly

- She feeds herself very well with a fork and spoon.

- Her birthmark on her head is almost completely gone!

- Has started hitting, pushing and biting (mainly me) when she gets mad sometimes. If she does though, she immediately tries to hug and says "lu you."

-Is obsessed with the potty. She wants to "go" all the time. Has absolutely no concept of what that means, but like to get the toilet paper and flush it.

-Can open doors...which means I have to be diligent in making sure they are locked!

-Still in her crib and that will not change anytime soon!

-Has adopted Addison's Datti Bear. She plays Chad's voice over and over every night before she goes to sleep.

-Loves reading books and rocking before bed.  I normally just toss her in bed and then do the bedtime "routine" with Addison - prayers, bedtime story, etc...  Now that she is old I've been trying to have a routine with her as well.  I sang Jesus Loves Me to Addison every night before bed for probably 3 years, and I'm trying to get in the habit with Mya.  This week, if I forget, she stands in her bed, points to her rocking chair and says "Jesus, Jesus!" until I sing the song while rocking her.  Love it.

-If she gets tired, she comes to me and says "nap" which means she wants to lay her head on my shoulder.

-Is obsessed with shoes and if you leave them around our house, she will probably put them in our bin for you!

-HATES sitting in a shopping cart

Mya, I love the times we snuggle! The other day you woke up early and let me rock you for about an hour. You gently rubbed my arm and whispered to me while we rocked. I love feeling the weight of your head rest on my chest or shoulder. I love how often you give me hugs for no reason and tell me "lu you!" I love that you don't want to go to sleep without tell Addison goodnight and that you love to listen to Daddy's voice. I am so excited that another month milestone will not go by without your Daddy being her to hold and squeeze you too!

  1. Glad I'm not the only one that has to buy new girls clothes this winter. Piper is the opposite of Greer and I don't have much stuff that'll fit her. Glad to know that your hubby will be home soon! I am sure you are counting down the days!

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
