Miss Mya - 23 months

Poor Mya - no baby book, not many pictures...and now I can't even keep up with her blog posts. This picture is from our trip to Disney world.  More blogging about that soon.  So despite being a week late, here ya go...

- One of the biggest changes in the past few weeks is Mya's vocabulary.  She has started talking a lot more and is very clear with lots of words.

- She still loves her "papi."  We are driving home for Christmas and will spend about 18 hours in the car each way, so we will not be getting rid of the pacifier before that trip!

- weight - 22 lbs.

- length - not sure.

- She has now cut all her teeth.  A few are still coming in, but hopefully we are done with teething!

- Her favorite foods are peanut butter, yogurt, humus, chicken.  She is hit and miss with some veggies, but over all is a good eater.

-Is still a champion sleeper. Wakes up between 7:30 and 8:00 (or later!). She Never whimpers when it is time to go to sleep. She naps from 1-4 each day...sometimes longer and goes down by 8. She would go down by 7:30, but most days I just can't get her there that quickly!

- Size 5 diapers

- Shoe size - 4

- Clothes size - mostly 18-24 month, with 2T pants and jeans

- Even though she is a mommy's girl, she loves her daddy and always asks where he is...even if he is just around the corner!  Every morning she says "Daddy??" "He's at work" "OHHH.." :)

-She has a thing with taking her pjs off, especially if they are one piece pjs.  Thankfully her room is the warmest in the house!

- Her hair is still very curly and getting long!

- She feeds herself very well with a fork and spoon.

- Her birthmark on her head is almost completely gone!

- Loves Addison!  She loves being with her, copying her, giving her hugs and doesn't like if Addison is ever not here!

- Still loves to go "potty"

-Still sleeping in her crib and as long as she doesn't climb out, we'll keep her in there until we move in April.  No reason to fight that crazy battle before we have to!

-She has the Monroe obsession with touch.  If you are a Monroe, you understand this.  She loves feeling soft and silky things - rubbing them on her face, between her fingers, etc...

-Loves saying "Jesus" :) I normally sing Jesus Loves me when she goes to sleep, but she started wanting me to just sing the word Jesus.  I now sing the chorus of Tis So Sweet because it repeats "Jesus."  Sometimes she will just sing "Jesus" over and over again - very enthusiastically!

- Still HATES sitting in a shopping cart

-Has loved seeing the little bit of snow we've had so far, however she doesn't like keeping gloves or hats on, so we'll see how she does playing in the snow!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
