5 year old Addison!

Our Addison just turned five!  She has been anticipating this birthday for a while now!  Not sure when you start dreading birthdays instead of anticipating them...maybe when your next birthday is the big 3-0. Back to Addison... ;)

Addison is still bouncing off our walls most days!  We keep thinking she may slow down one day, but we're still waiting on that.

She enjoys homeschooling for Preschool.  She is learning so much, so quickly!  She has started reading 3 and 4 letter words.  I can't wait for her to start really reading!

She loves to watch TV.  I know, I know.  Bad mom.  She doesn't watch it all the time, but would watch movies all day if I let her.  Her favorite movies are: Rapunzel, Dophin Tale, and anything Disney Princess.

She still loves gymnastics and practices all the time.

She has finally started trying new foods.  She loves chicken and has never eaten red meat or ground meat of any kind.  Not sure when that will ever change! However, she probably eats more fruits and vegetables than anyone in our family.

She loves going to the library and will sit for as long as anyone will read books to her.

She loves to talk....and talk and talk and talk.  Questions, singing, making up songs, telling us about anything and everything....she's just always making some sort of noise.

Very particular about what she wear most days and even more particular about how things fit.  She would prefer to wear a dress or skirt - with tights - every day.

She is an excellent car rider, although she does ask "Are we there yet?" about every 5 mins.

She is a great helper with Mya and loves taking care of her.

Loves doing anything she can on her own - bathing, fixing her plate, picking out her clothes

Still sleeps with her bunny and blanket.

Weighs 31 lbs.  and has grown about 7 inches in the past year.

Clothes: 5/6 shirts, pants - 4T or 5T slim MUST have adjustable waist (I just pulled a 24 month skirt out of drawer today that she could still wear, just too short!)  Shoes - 10 or 11

Loves going to the dentist

Loves going to Georgia to visit family and is still a huge fan of Papa T!

Addison we love you!!  You make life exciting, fun and keep things loud! :)  I love your spunk and zest for life!  We pray that the Lord keeps your heart tender for Him and that all your potential will be for Him.  I love cuddling with you at night, reading with you and watching you learn in school.  Love you sweet girl!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
