What Addi is up to...

My girls are growing like weeds!  They have gone from 2 kids existing in a house together to being each other's closest playmates.  I love watching them grow closer and start playing together more and more.  Mya will do anything and everything Addison does...good or bad.  Great teaching tool for Addison!

Addison had her 5 year old check up a few weeks ago and the conversation went like this... "How is Addison's appetite?"   "Amazing, better than it has ever been." "Well, just because she's a little low on the growth chart." "What is it?" "She's around 10%" "Oh no, that's good.  That's the highest she's ever been!"
Still my string bean, but has definitely opened up to the world of food, more specifically meat.  Most days she would rather just eat veggies and fruit still, but we are growing!

Addison favorite thing right now is anything with art, drawing and coloring.  She carries paper and something to draw with pretty much everywhere she goes.  She LOVES clothes.  Loves to pick out her clothes, loves to change clothes, loves to layer clothes.  I feel like she needs a pin that she can wear that says "I dressed myself today."  She is so excited on those days that I let her wear whatever she wants!

As we get closer to the end of the school year, we are starting to do a lot of review of what she has learned all year.  She has learned 28 Bible verses, starting to learn addition and subtraction and reading a little better every day.

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
