Lucy - 6 months

Lucy is 6 months old!!  Oh my!  Crazy how fast is goes, especially  with the 3rd!

Lucy is the sweetest, most easy-going baby ever.  Seriously, piece of cake kid.  She is always so  bright-eyed and always has a smile for anyone around!

What Lucy is up to:

-Weight: 11.6 at 5 months, 12.2 at her 6 month appointment.  She has moved from the 13th to the zero percentile.  While are kids are generally small and Addison wasn't even on the growth chart - Addison at least trended upward on her own curve.  Lucy's downward trend is not ideal, but I am confident she is totally fine.  The doctor just wants to keep an eye on her weight.

-I started solids with her this week.  I debated about even giving her cereal given our diet, but I decided to go with organic baby oatmeal for a little while.  I am not going to give her rice cereal at all. I am going to move to table food faster than I did with Addison and Mya.  I am still a big fan of organic baby food squeeze packs.  Especially when our schedule is crazy, organic fruits and veggies are better than the table food we are eating!

- Jabbering more and more!

-eyes are still blue - I am confident they are going to stay blue! Yay!

-Still swaddling!  Crazy!

-She can roll around, but is very similar to Mya in the fact that she is content to hang out in one place.  I am not complaining!

-Loves to sit in her bouncy seat and chew on her monkey rattle.  I almost got rid of the bouncy seat because Addison HATED to be put in it.

-Still has cradle cap.  We have tried all the things people have told us. Nothing is a quick cure for us.

-Eating schedule: Has started waking up on her own around 7:30 or 8:00
11:30 or 12:00
3:30 or 4:00
8:00 or 8:30
Spreading her feedings out have helped so that I don't always have to wake her up.

-Sleep for 11-12 hours

-No longer crying when she goes down for nap or bedtime.  Maybe a minute or so here and there, but mostly just lays down and goes to sleep.

-Likes to hold her paci and play with it.

-Size 2 diapers

-Size 3-6 months clothes

-loves watching her big sisters and TV...she will lay on her play mat and look up at the TV if it is on

-still likes traveling in the Ergo.

-Is still pretty flexible with her schedule.  Occasionally though, she lets us know if the schedule gets out of hand and she gets really tired.

-sweet, sweet girl!!!

When you have older sisters that dress you up in baby doll clothes!

Hanging out with her friend Jack at Thanksgiving.

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
