Crazy time to start a blog

First of all, starting a blog at 4:00 AM is probably not the wisest thing...especially when we start our move across the country in just 3 days! I have been wanting to start a blog for a while now, but just haven't made the time. You might see lots of posts at random hours of the morning for a few reasons...
1. its generally the only time of peace and quiet in my house that I could sit down and type
2. I tend to have a lot of trouble going back to sleep if one of my girls wakes up during the night

I do think blogs are amusing things...not sure why you would want to read the detailed accounts of our day to day life. I however, enjoy reading friends' blogs, so I assume this will be informative and humorous to some. I do look forward to the memories a blog will preserve. I enjoy scrapbooking, but rarely have the time to sit down and pull out all my stuff, plus I'm not always the best at having my camera handy (however I am getting better about that now that I have a Canon Rebel!) I know I will also enjoy having a blog during deployments. Many of you use blogs to keep family and friends up to date during deployments and I will try to do the same. And yes, I am sure I will have to spend some time educating my Mom and Grandmother on yet another form of social networking. :) They have conquered Facebook, now they can conquer the world of blogs.

So here it is...the Monroe blog. I am sure it will be filled with pictures of our girls, hilarious stories of crazy things Addison has done or said, expressions of heartache during deployments, moments of frustration and joys only parenting can bring, updates on moves and travels of an army family, but most of all I hope this is a glimpse at the blessings of God on our lives. He has overwhelmed us with His goodness and too often I take that for granted. Whatever joys shared here are because of His kindness to us. Whatever sorrows shared here are shared from a heart that is comforted most by His love. Whatever pictures are taken are of beauty He has created. So this is it...a journey of a life that is So Blessed...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
