Fall is upon us

We are certainly taking advantage of Chad's slow schedule and the endless opportunities of things to do around us!  Here are a few of our recent adventures...

We couldn't pass up the chance to see the Braves play this season, so we headed to Citi field on Sunday afternoon.  We were thankful to have the chance to stop by the Gallery Church on our way and worship along side the Wyatts and meet Parker.

I've never watched a baseball game outside of Atlanta, and of all places to start...  I felt like I was walking into enemy territory!  Tickets are SIGNIFICANTLY more at Citi field than at Turner field.  Thankfully Chad and the girls were free!  Chad could have gotten any ticket in the park for free!  But since he wanted to sit with us, we by passed the $400 tickets!

Beautiful day!

Our view from left field

The girls' first game!  They did great.

Since it wasn't crowded, we moved a few innings into the game.  We could have probably gotten really close, but we were content to have room for the girls to run around.

This kid is such a clown.  If you laugh at something she does, she repeats it to get a laugh and remembers what it was and does it often.

Still trying to draw a laugh...

Addison's attempt at a laugh. ;)

One of the main reasons we wanted to make sure we saw a game this year, was to see Chipper play one last time.  Too bad he wasn't on the roster the day we went!  Uhh!!  We were excited to see him pinch hit at least!

10th inning Braves win!

Addison and I went to Lawrence Farm with some friends a few weeks ago and it was such a great place, we wanted to take Chad and Mya back.  It is a pick your own farm with tons of apples, vegetables, grapes, pumpkins, and wagons. :)

After picking all our produce, we went to the little village they have for kids.  The girls could have stayed there all day!

We were telling Addison the other day that it seems like our time here at West Point will be defined somewhat by season... In the summer one of the highlights is the summer concerts at Trophy Point.  Now many of our Saturdays will be filled with Army football!  This past weekend was the home opener against Northern Illinois.  The whole fam was super excited to go!

Ready to cheer on the Black Knights.  ("Addison, that's a triangle."  "No, its an 'A' for army."  "No dear, its a triangle...")

First disappointment of the day - no jump team!

While it was an amazing day, in the sun it got really warm.  After half-time, we decided to move into the shade.  Given the sunburn on our faces the next day, it was a good thing we did!

Ahh shade!

Heart breaking one point loss!  Maybe next week!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
