Girls' Birthday and Gender Reveal

The joy of having two birthdays around Christmas is a busy few weeks!  We are normally in GA over their birthdays and decided to have their party there again this year.  We kept it pretty simple with a Barbie/Minnie Mouse theme.  Our plan was to take Addison, Mya and Lilly to lunch at Chick-fil-a, games at Chuck e Cheese then back to Chad's parents' house for dessert.  Unfortunately on the way to Chuck e Cheese Mya got car sick!  We had no change of clothes so we had to turn around and head back to get her cleaned up.

On a side note, we had heard about a place in Atlanta called Stork Vision that only does 3D/4D Ultrasounds and will do early standard ultra sounds to determine gender.  It came highly recommended and at the last minute we got an appointment 2 days before the girls' party.  We wanted to wait and find out the gender with our families, we did not find out during the ultrasound.

"Hello!"

She sealed an envelope for us with the picture and sealed another envelope for us to give to the bakery.  We took the envelope to a local bakery and they made the inside pink or blue for us.  I think it turned out super cute!

Since we were already getting our families together for the party, we decided to cut the cake after the girls opened presents.

Time for presents! Thankfully Mya was feeling better!

After presents everyone was getting anxious to know...

You can probably tell from my reaction we were a little let down it wasn't blue.  Not disappointed in our daughter for sure...just a little sad that this is probably our last baby and a boy would have been fun.  We are very thankful for a healthy baby and the Lord knows just how Miss Lucy will fit into our family!

Then we sang Happy Birthday to two happy big sisters!

Addison didn't want a cake, she wanted ice cream instead.

ALL Pink!

Chad enjoying some cake...  (No, he did NOT all that!)

The next week Brooke and I took the girls to Chuck e Cheese since our first attempt didn't work out.

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
