West Point - Day 2/NYC

Saturday was a BEAUTIFUL day at West Point!  Chad had the opportunity to march with the alumni in the parade, but he decided to stay with us and he got to actually watch a parade!  We had to park really far away (by the Rugby field!!) so we didn't get a great spot for the parade.   Cadets marching out View of the chapel and Mac Hall - the spot where I used to wait for Chad all the time! Parachute team during the parade Superintendent's House and the new Arvin Gym Go Army! Washington Hall Addison wanted her picture taken with EVERYTHING! Walking through Central Area again, Chad told me about this building where they held Honor Boards.  I wish we could have gone in and seen it.   Washington Hall - notice Mya looking for her sock on the floor! On our way to the game, Addison wanted to stop by every statue - MacArthur Thayer View from the Cadet Chapel Inside the chapel So nice to watch the game live rather than hitting "refresh" on the computer to keep up w...

West Point - Day 1

West Point is one of our favorite places in the world!  Not only is it a beautiful place, we share so many memories there, including our engagement and Chad's graduation/commissioning.  It is also so rich in history that you can't help but be in awe when you think about all the people who have walked the same hallways in the past!  We were able to go down for Chad's five year reunion since we live so close.  It was definitely a different experience, especially for Chad, having to drive around, look for parking, being forced to park very far away at times, and trying to maneuver a stroller around a non-stroller friendly place. We arrived on Thursday night and took a drive around post.  In a way, it was like seeing it for the first time!  Before, we looked at it as a school, now we look at it as a post where we hope to live.  Things like CYS, ACS, and housing are important to us now, where as before, we didn't even know those offices existed!  We ...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
I am so fortunate to be married to my hero and my very best friend.   Happy Birthday to the love of my life!   Love you Chad!

Apple Pickin'

We have all been looking forward to the opportunity to go Apple Picking!  Last week we drove down to Mexico, NY to a local orchard.  I guess I have never seen an apple tree...they were a lot smaller than I had imagined! First up - Honey Crisp.  I am normally a Granny Smith only kind of girl, but Wow.  These are SO good!  We ate one on the way home.  It was HUGE and so juicy!  MMM! Unfortunately NY's growing season is 4 weeks too short for Granny Smith apples.  The Jenna Blush is supposed to be very similar.    I couldn't believe all the apples on the ground!  I hope they feed them to horse or something.  What a shame for all those to go to waste! Helping Mya pick her apple Who ever had the idea to give away a whistle in a kid's meal has obviously never been in on a long car ride with a child and the afore mentioned whistle! Hopefully we will have a chance to pick more apples before the quickly appro...
