Addi Addi Addi

(See my previous post for the reason for the this post.) If you have ever met Addison, you know that one blog post cannot summarize what a special girl she is. From the day she was born, she has been a firecracker and I wouldn't have it any other way. She bring joy, spunk and never ending excitement to our house...as well as our share of challenges! She could definitely qualify for an honorable mention in any strong willed child book.

Here are a few things about Addison right now...

- if you ask her what her name is, she will say Addi. We constantly remind her that her name is Addison. I purposely name my kids what I want them to be called, but I guess we call her Addi a little too much at home. I love the name Addison, but there are days that I think I am going to wear it out!!

- at 3 1/2 she weighs 29 lbs. The doctor at her 3 year check up made us go back out to the scale to make sure it was right. She is 39 inches tall. Two words - STRING BEAN!

- her 3T shirts are getting a little short. her 3T jeans are still almost on the tightest button and are getting too short. She is still wearing 18-24 month shorts. Her new shoes are size 9

- She loves to sing - especially songs that she makes up. Her favorite real song right now is In Right, Out Right, Up Right, Down Right

- Her absolute favorite person in the world is my dad - Papa T. Today she said, "I don't know why I just love my Papa T."

- she loves play-dough, playing "waitress" and taking people's orders and filling them in her kitchen

- she is learning to make her bed...even though I never thought I would make my children do that

- she loves brushing her teeth and has to have a cup to rinse - thanks mom :)

- She is very social and is only shy for about the first 2 minutes she meets anyone

- She just finished soccer clinic and is taking gymnastics. She has soccer potential, but gets way too bored with it. Gymnastics is definitely her niche.

- Some of her favorite foods include - red peppers, any kind of fruit, yogurt smoothies, (banana and a smoothie is her consistent breakfast of choice), pizza, cheese quesadillas, green beans, tomatoes, ritz crackers. She could really be an vegetarian. The only kind of meat she will eat is grilled chicken, some fish and occasionally chicken nuggets.

- She can write A, B, C, M, N, U, V, 1, and 2. She is getting really good at recognizing more letters and their sounds.

- Her absolute favorite thing in the world to do is play games on pbskids.org. She taught herself to get on my computer, open the internet and go to the website using my top sites chart.

- Her favorite show is 19 Kids and Counting

- Naps are hit and miss. I still insist on time in her room, but am beginning to realize a nap every day at her energy level is not really going to happen. Since we've moved to the eastern time zone, she is sleeping 12 hours most nights!

- she loves to hold Mya and make her laugh

- she remembers EVERYTHING!

- funny recent quotes (I really should keep a pen and paper handy b/c there are so many) - "Momma, this playdough is black. Really black. Black as a black sock."
(referring to my brother) "Jesus knows Chris too?? Wow, He knows EVERYBODY!"
in thanking Jesus for the beautiful things He has made - "thank you for the Cooker." Me: "what's a cooker?" "You are Mommy!"

Addison - you are a never-ending source of laughter and excitement in our house. Thank you for being so patient with me and Daddy as we strive to train you without breaking your spunky spirit. I love that you still like to cuddle with me when you first wake up and that you are hungry the minute your feet hit the floor...just like me! I love snuggling with you at night when you say, "Mommy, can you lay with me...just 1 minute. Just 1 minute Momma." My life has been forever changed since you came into it and I love you more than life!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
