Sweet Baby Mya

So I will admit, I am totally stealing this idea from my friend Rebecca. I don't get as much time to scrapbook as I use to, so blogging is a great way to keep up to date in between.

Mya is such a sweet baby girl! She is the most laid back kid in the world - nothing that we are used to!! She is definitely slower on the active scale than Addison, but then again, Addison was on the far end of that scale! :)

Here's a little of what Mya is doing these days...

- She LOVES Baby Mum-Mums and is finally getting the hang of getting more puffs in her mouth than on the floor. She also LOVES water and is getting better with the sippy cup.

- Her favorite baby food is sweet potatoes. She normally eats yogurt in the mornings, oatmeal and fruit for lunch and rice cereal and veggies for dinner. I am always slow on the table food...I like to keep their diets as healthy as possible for as long as possible. All organic for now.

- Although she can, she hates rolling from her stomach to her back. She has just recently started rolling completely over from her back to her stomach. At this age, Addison was crawling, pulling up and starting to cruise around. Mya's just been content to hang out for so long and with #2, I probably haven't spent enough time playing on the floor with her. She'll get there though! :)

- She is doing really well sitting up

- She LOVES watching her big sister and loves laughing as she runs circles around her...literally!

- We are trying to stop swaddling her. Even though she loves it, its probably time.

- She weighs 14lbs 4 oz., wears 3-6 month clothes, and just moved to size 3 diapers.

- She loves to babble

- She takes 2 naps a day and sleeps 11 hours a night. She used to sleep a solid 12 and would sleep until 8:30 every morning, but lately it has gotten a lot closer to 7:30. Thankfully she sleeps anywhere and rarely ever cries before she falls asleep. Before we stopped swaddling her, she never cried before going to sleep.

- She is starting to show signs of separation anxiety with me. Hopefully some time in Georgia and being around more people than just me

- I think she may be cutting her first tooth. She has been unusually fussy the past few days, drooling and gnawing on everything. This would be highly unusual for our family...where babies normally don't get teeth until after their first birthday!

Sweet Mya girl - you are a ray of sunshine every day! You giggle and smile when I get you out of your bed and you love to snuggle on my shoulder. You love riding in the car watching your sister. I love you sweet baby girl!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
