summa' time

Here are just a few random pics from the past few weeks...

Mya's first dinner with the family
Just to reference...this was Addison at this age!

From a picnic at a local park -
If you know Addison, you know eating is not one of her top priorities in life. Case in point, while she was playing instead of eating, something else decided to take advantage of the unattended food...
She was pretty disappointed about the sandwich...so much so that she ate some of it after the caterpillar invasion...despite our warnings not to.
Most of the pictures are of Mya because Addison doesn't slow down long enough to get many pictures at the park!
Mya LOVES to swing!
Addison loves the ice cream truck. This was the most recent selection - "Dora the Explora!" She doesn't quite have the "er" down yet. :) This popsicle wasn't chocolate, just brown. She was worried at first that it was chocolate. I have never liked chocolate and people have accused me of turning Addison against it. I honestly have never tried to sway her one way or the other. What can I say though...she's a smart girl. :)
This was a CAREFULLY guarded stroller pushing with Daddy. A little explanation on the pjs... the spiderman shirt is Addison's cousin's that we apparently borrowed somewhere along the way.

Next up - our visit to Cooperstown!!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
