Addison - 4 year post

Even though I posted about her party the other day, I didn't get to give an update on all things Addison!

As adults one year doesn't do much as far as our maturity, personality, etc...  For kids it is SO different!  Addison has changed from a toddler to a little lady in the past year.  Her mind is as quick as her body these days - constantly asking questions that take some time and thought to answer.  She exhausts me pretty much everyday, and I don't always have the patience that I should, but I love this little girl more than life.  I wish I approached life with the gusto that she does.  She makes this deployment a little easier because I feel like she is my little battle buddy!

Here are a few things about Addison right now:

- I'm not sure how much she weighs or how tall she is...I will find out and update this post!  My guess is 30 lbs., 42 inches tall

- She is quite the little gymnast.  In GA and NY she has been placed in the advanced class for her age.

- She LOVES to dress up.  RARELY ever does she make it through a day just wearing "regular" clothes

- She has recently developed a dislike for brushing her teeth

- She can write her name

- She loves to text Chad - scary I know that she can pick up my phone and text him by herself.  She makes up what it says!

- She is still a picky eater, but she is getting better at trying new things.

- she still loves watching the Duggars, but definitely has a new found love for Disney movies

- church is her favorite place to go

Addison, Daddy and I love you so much!  You are a joy and a spark in our life!  I love how much you love life and how much you love spending life with other people.  I know you are supposed to sleep in your own bed and I make you do it most of the time, but I love when you snuggle up to me and want me to hold your hand while you sleep.  You are such a strong little lady.  I can't wait until all those Hershey Kisses are gone and Daddy comes home!  You get so excited every time we take one out.
Daddy and I pray that you love Jesus and serve Him everyday!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
