Baby Mya - 1 year post

A few weeks ago our sweet baby Mya turned one!  I can't believe it!    I know all parents say this, but it really does seem like yesterday she was a little baby...

Now she is a big girl that is one the move!

Here are a few things about Mya right now...

- weighs 17.5lbs (5th percentile)

- 26 inches long (also 5th percentile)

- recently cut her first teeth! 2 on the bottom and at least one coming in on the top

- "Mama" has become the word of choice lately...she would love for me to carry her ALL the time!

- she is still a great eater!  Her favorite foods right now are - avacados, any kind of bean, bread, cheese, yogurt, Plum baby food squeeze packs (other than those, no baby food).  She really eats anything you put in front of her and most days she out eats her sister.

- LOVES bath time with Addison

- not walking yet, but can definitely get anywhere she wants to go by crawling or cruising

- loves milk and water...almost finished nursing!

- still taking 2 naps a day for about 2 hours each, goes to bed around 8:30 and wakes up around 8

- loves talking to Daddy on the webcam

- has shown us in the past few weeks there is a little temper underneath all that sweetness!

Sweet baby Mya - Mommy and Daddy love you so much!  You are such a happy, sweet little girl and we love watching you grow everyday.  I love when you lay down for naps how you pull the blanket around you and snuggle your head into your little bear.  Hearing you say "Mama" and raise your arms up expectantly brings a joy to my heart...even if I don't have time to hold you every moment!  We love you and our prayer for your life is that you would love the Lord with your whole heart and serve Him - that's all that matters!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
