Mya Mya - 17 months

This has been a big month for Miss Mya!
Her biggest accomplishment - officially walking!  While she has been taking steps for a long time, this month she decided it was time to move.  She getting faster everyday.  Her Daddy couldn't wait for her to walk...now for him to get home so he can chase her!

Another big change has been her conversation.  It seems like she's grown up in just a few weeks.  She is communicating more and more and can understand and respond to most things I say.  (ie. go get your paci or get a diaper)
words: momma, dada (she definitely knows Chad and calls him dada, but she can't seem to get "Addi" so she calls her dada too sometimes!), ball, yes, Papa
-doing very well with sign language
weight - not sure if we've broken the 20 pound mark or not!
- length - 27 inches
- Still just 6 teeth, but again, I'm sure she's cutting more!
- same as last month - she would love to take a morning nap most days but that rarely happens given our CRAZY schedule this month.  For example, today she took a 2 hour morning nap, 3 hour afternoon nap and went to bed at 8 without a peep!
- She is obsessed with climbing on Addison's step stools.  Her new thing is pulling the stool to the silverware drawer and pulling out as much as she can before she gets caught.
- Shoe size - 3 - barely.  We've lost 2 shoes this month because they've been a little too big and fallen off in the mall.  Two of our favorite shoes. :(
- Clothes size - 12-18 months, some 18-24 month shirts.
- She loves "talking" on the phone.
- she is becoming more and more selective with what she eats.  Not to the Addison level yet thankfully, but I can tell a change.  She is currently on a strawberry and sweet potato strike.
- her hair is getting curlier every day!
-I'm sure she thinks her name is "Mya Mya" because that is what Addison and I call her most often...not sure why!

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
