Sweet Baby Mya - Baby no more! 16 months

Our sweet baby Mya is growing up - 16 months old!  During deployments, I feel all too often that I wish my kids childhoods away.  Every day that I want to go by faster to bring Chad home is one day gone from the moments of them being so little.  I experienced the same feelings with Addison at this age.
Mya's personality has certainly blossomed in the last few months!  She is still pretty calm and content most of the time, but she can have quite a temper at times and can be a total ham!  She has the cheesiest grin with tiny little teeth and eyes squinted.  Every time I get the camera out though, she drops the grin and just wants to hold the camera.

Mya Facts:

- weight - 19.5lbs - I know, our kiddos stay on the little side of life
- length - 27 inches
- 2 teeth on the bottom, 4 teeth on the top (that all cut at the same time!)  I'm pretty sure she is cutting her molars right now.
- still hanging on to her morning nap.  Our schedule doesn't always allow for it, but on days we are at home, she will sleep 2 hours in the morning, 3 hours in the afternoon and still go to bed at 8!
- she CAN walk...she just doesn't always make that choice!  Her Daddy doesn't think she'll ever really walk, but she will. :) She took her first real steps 2 months ago, but still crawled for a long time.  Now she walks around holding on to things most of the time.  She is walking independently more and more.
- she LOVES to climb and can often be found standing on the picnic table, her little stool, chair - standing up with her cheesy grin b/c she knows she's about to get in trouble.  She's only fallen down the stairs once.
- Shoe size - 2
- Clothes size - 12-18 months.  All of Addison's clothes from this age are summer clothes.  Upstate New York spring and Tennessee spring temperatures are very different, so I've had to hold on to some of the 12 month clothes a little longer.
- She LOVES seeing Chad everyday on the webcam.
- She eats anything (except when she's teething).  Her favorites are: peanut butter, grapes, bananas, green beans, chicken, mac and cheese and cheese sticks.
- we completely finished nursing just before she turned 14 months old
- looks just like Addison as this age, except her hair has some curl on the bottom

Mya loves her sister. She copies everything Addison does...which is teaching Addison a lot about what she should and shouldn't be doing!
Here's a perfect example...
Another little gymnast?

Mya-Mya - we love you!  We love watching you grow and learn every day.  Daddy misses you so much and loves to see your little grin each day.  I love snuggling with you in the morning and when you get sleepy at nap time. Your little hands grab my pant legs and you scream "mama" when you want something!  You are like me - you want something to eat the moment you wake up in the morning.  I love watching you grow and learn everyday...just wish you weren't so fast at emptying my bathroom cabinet and tupperware cabinet! :) Love you sweet Mya!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
