Mya - 19 months

Sweet Mya Mya - you are 19 months old! (tomorrow)

There is a very good reason I didn't get around to posting Mya's 18 month post...
I don't think she could have asked for a better present for turning 18 months!

Mya is turning into a little girl more and more everyday!  Her favorite thing to do is copy her big sister!  She has no fear and will climb any table, chair, bench or bookcase she can get to.  Keeping up with her is definitely a chore!  She is such a SWEET girl!  She cuddles far more than Addison did at this age. She loves to "rock, rock" with me and even with Addison in her rocking chair.

She is getting faster everyday.  She can run for a little while, but often wipes out if she gets going too fast.

words: she says more and more every day.  Words she says most often: momma, dada, papa, nana, grandma, cracker, Addi (she drags it out -  Aaaaadddda), ball, pap pap (paci), cup cup, milk, tooth, trash (because she says it all the way to the trash can when she throws her diaper away.)
- She refuses to say her own name!  She will name everyone in a pictures and if you point to her, she won't say Mya!
Sweetest words: looov uuu
Best words: baby, bye-bye
- weight - 21 lbs.
- length - not sure.  The doctors on post don't volunteer the weight/length/percentile info and I always forget to ask.
- She has 6 teeth (the same 6 teeth I've posted about for 4 months!), but she just cut her molars and 2 other teeth on top.  Two more are coming in on top and her molars on the bottom are about to cut as well.
- She does not eat well while she is teething.  She is still on a strawberry strike and has recently started a green bean strike. Her new loves are raspberries and refried beans (vegetarian of course).  I am making smoothies more and more to compensate for the lack of strawberry and blueberry eating. I think she may actually turn into a cracker.
- we are officially done with morning nap.
- since she's been cutting so many teeth, she has been waking up around 6:30.  Considering she normally sleeps until 8, this is quite a change.  I don't get her up right away, but since the crying can wake Addison up, I usually get her before too long.  That is one Babywise thing I've never accomplished with either kid - waking up happy!
- She LOVES brushing her teeth.  Seriously, I have never seen a child love a toothbrush so much.  If I ever forget and put her to bed without brushing her teeth, she cries and points to the bathroom until we brush them.  She also love washing her hands.
-Really enjoys going to hourly care
- Shoe size - 3.  She wears sandals mostly and does not enjoy them.
Still in size 4 diapers.  After I change her diaper, she loves to go throw it away.
- Clothes size - 12-18 months, some 18-24 month
- She loves "talking" on the phone.
-Still using a paci.  That will be an after deployment battle!
- I think she is definitely going to have my hair...poor kid!  Her hair seems shorter than Addison's at this age, but I think it is partly the curls.
-She loves to dance!
- She feeds herself very well with a fork and spoon.
- Her birthmark on her head is almost completely gone!
-Loves to hug other kids when we go out to the playground or park

Sweet Mya - you are growing up so fast!  In just a few short weeks Daddy will be home all the time and when you are old enough to read this, you won't even remember he was gone!  We love watching you grow each day.  I love hearing your sweet voice and cuddling with you!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
