R&R - part 2

One of Addison's favorite things is to go to an arcade.  Near my parent's house is a bowling alley with an arcade - Stars and Strikes.  Even though Chad can't bowl because of his elbow surgery, we decided to let the girls bowl one game.  Four frames into Addison was bored and ready to go to the arcade.  Mya was all about it though!

On the 4th of July, my parents hosted a great party for our family and Chad's family.  Not only for obvious reasons, but the 4th is one of Chad's favorite holidays for one reason - fireworks.  He and his dad had purchased a small arsenal for the occasion!

My sweet girls!

I know, I know...I've fallen completely off the nutrition bandwagon...my children LOVE cheese puffs.

Enjoying time outside, despite the bugs and HOT weather!

My adoptive nephew Hudson.  He is my sister-in-law, Brooke's nephew, but after spending weeks with him this summer, he felt like part of the family!

Mya just wanted to run with the big kids!

Unfortunately, the weather didn't hold out for the fireworks show.  My parents had strung up tons of red, white and blue lights, for the occasion, but just as we were about to head to the field, the rain came and didn't let up.  My husband didn't give up though!  During a lighter period of rain, we lined up chairs on the front porch and watched small fireworks in the rain!  What can I say, he's committed!

As a late anniversary celebration, Chad and I spent a night in Atlanta.  My parent's church honored us as a military family and gave us a hotel gift certificate and a gift card for dinner.  We ate at Maggiano's, checked into the Crown Plaza and headed to the Braves game.

This was the view from our seats in the upper deck.  They were  good seats, but we didn't stay long.  At first we were alone on our row, but in the 2nd inning a group of teenagers showed up.  One guy managed to stomp on my foot and kick me on his way in and out.  The kids were drinking and not very enjoyable to sit with.  Thankfully the stands weren't full, so we moved down a few sections...

Best part of our new seats - no one around!

It was a great game and the Braves won!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
