House - Downstairs

I realize if you've been holding your breath for this post, you're in some serious pain. :) I mapped out the upstairs in a much earlier post and totally forgot to come back to this one.  So here is it, the downstairs...

Outside -

This is how close our neighbors are! :)  We actually haven't had any neighbors for a few weeks, but will have a family moving in in the next few weeks.

View out the front door.  It is nice that we don't have anyone right across from us.  I park right in front of the house and Chad has a spot on the other side of our neighbors.

View walking in the front door.

Sorry for the bad picture, but this is looking back toward the front door.

Better picture of the foyer/front door.

Standing in the same place as the picture above, just looking the other way down the hallway.  Huge closets under the stairs and to the left of the keyboard.

Playroom/Office - This is right off the living room.  You can see the entrance in the picture above.  It opens up to the dining room as well.

View of the Dining Room from the Playroom

Laundry Closet - right across from the table.  Least favorite part of the house, but it works.

Continuing to the back of the house, into the kitchen.  Ignore all the pantry items on the microwave cart!  We have a bit of an ant problem.  They can't seem to find the cart the same way they can find the pantry.

Turn right from the picture above and you will see the Half Bath -

Continuing into the kitchen.  Love the cabinet and counter space in the kitchen, just wish there were more drawer space.

So that's our home!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
