Girls update

Time for a little update on the girls...

Addison:

- 38 lbs, 47 inches
- in mostly size 6 so that everything can be long enough, 7 in dresses.  Pants have to be slim fit and adjustable waist.  Can't wait for warmer weather - shorts and capris so her high water pants aren't so noticeable! Thankful boots and skinny jeans!
- Can tie her shoes like a pro
- can read!  She is still on a beginner level, but doing great!
- doing excellent with addition facts!  Just started subtraction.
- loved her short hair cut, but now wishes it was really, really long
- still loving gymnastics.  She is working on her back walk over.
- favorite thing to do is play music on her CD player in her room and sing and dance
- doesn't want her fan on in her room at night.  Not sure if she is a true Monroe or not.
- Loves to help me cook.  An expert peanut butter sandwich maker.
- loves to watch House Hunters and Chopped if given the chance!
- Such a better eater than she used to be!  She will now eat peas, squash, beef and soup with no arguments.   Blueberries, scrambled eggs, tomatoes and plums are some of her favorites right now, however she would eat pizza everyday if possible!
- Love to play board games.

Mya:

- 28 lbs, 36 inches
- Her clothes are a good mix of 2T and 3T.
- Is very ready to start school.  She asks all the time!  In the fall I will definitely start preschool activities with her.  We will probably move our school time from the afternoons to the mornings once both of them have work to do.
- Can get dressed on her own, if her clothes are laid out.
- Totally finished with pull ups at night several weeks ago.  She's had one accident in the morning, but none at night!
- Is going to start an 8 week gymnastics class in April!
- will only wear nightgowns to bed
- desperately wants to sleep with Addison every night.  We occasionally let them, but it normally takes Mya a long time to actually go to sleep and let Addison go to sleep.
- They will share a room once Lucy comes.   Depending on which house we are in, they will either share Addison's bed or we will get bunk beds.
- Champion eater.  Loves peas, spaghetti squash, broccoli, meatloaf, soup, and just about anything else I put on her plate. I had spaghetti squash for leftovers one day and she was very upset I didn't give her any!  Still her favorite - peanut butter sandwich.
- Still wants to be rocked at night, which I don't mind!

They are both very excited about welcoming Lucy to the family!  They can't wait to take care of her and entertain her.  Love my sweet girls!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
