Disney Day 4 - a much needed day off!

After our first trip, we learned never to plan a busy day after staying up late for the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.  In an ideal world, we would have a one day on, one day off plan for the parks.  While I know many people love Disney vacations, I have heard many people say that they are so exhausted, stressed, etc...during a Disney trip.  I know for us, these off days save us from burning out.  Every moment of our vacation wasn't perfect, but honestly most of it was so great.  Relaxing and having fun.

So, day 4 was spent hanging out at the hotel and the pool.  In the afternoons, there are organized games for the kids around the pool, which our girls loved.

Addison was always doing gymnastics - even in the water!

For lunch we decided to walk over to the Art of Animation Resort for lunch.  We had wanted to stay at this resort, but no rooms were available at the military rate during our stay.  After walking over there, we were satisfied with staying at the Pop Century - the Art of Animation was SO spread out!  The restaurant also seemed smaller than the one at Pop Century. It does look like a fun resort though!

Back to the pool after lunch!

Lucy's turn to swim!

She loved the water!

After naps, we headed to our favorite quick-service restaurant - Wolf Gang Puck's at Downtown Disney (on the Marketplace end).  Not many quick service restaurants that are so delicious and have local, organic ingredients.  Yum!

I love our little family!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
