Disney Day 6 - Epcot

On Saturday, it was time to go to Epcot.  Our last day at the parks.

In an effort to get Mya to 40 inches, we tried putting Mya's hair as high as possible.  LOL.

Again, the fastpass system messed up our normal routine.  Our first fast pass wasn't until 9:15, so we thought we had a few minutes to take our time... When I originally scheduled our fast passes, I wasn't thinking about the rider swaps.  I set us all to have fast passes at Soarin'.  I realized that morning that I should change it - 2 fast passes for Soarin and 2 for Test Track.  The soonest available fast pass for Test Track wasn't until 6:15.  We should have gone to Test Track first thing, had Chad ride in the single rider line and then get a rider swap for us instead of waiting around all day for the fast pass.

Goofy!

I knew Ana and Elsa were in Norway, however, the app on my phone said that their line didn't start until 11, when it actually started at 9.  If I had realized that, I could have gone straight there and possibly had been able to see them without a super long wait.  But once we realized, we figured it was too late and the line was probably already long.

Epcot was having their Flower Festival.  The flowers were gorgeous!  We took a few minutes to walk through the Tinkerbell Butterfly Garden.

Then it was time to use the Soarin' Fast Passes!

We were not beyond stuffing Mya's shoes to get her on...

It worked!  Mya and Chad used the 2 fast passes to ride and got a rider swap.  Since the rider swap is good for 3 people, Addison, Mya and I were able to ride together.

Definitely one of our favorite rides!

Ready to ride!

After Soarin, we headed next door to the Nemo ride and Turtle talk with Crush.  Turtle talk is hilarious.  We had a fast pass for Turtle Talk - hoping that would get us toward the front of the room.  However, we didn't end up using it.  By this time in the afternoon, basically all the fast passes to any ride in the park were gone.  Frustrating.  Just like Its a Small World - we walked past Spaceship Earth (the Big Ball) with no line that morning, only to come back later and had to wait 20 minutes.

One of my least favorite things about Epcot is how spread out it is.  Because of all the back and forth with the fast passes, we felt like we were walking around a lot.  After Space Ship Earth, we headed to eat lunch.  We can never decide whether to eat in Mexico or China.  So we did both.  We took food from Mexico to a place in China.  Both were yummy.  We knew we could spend all day going around the World Showcase standing in line for character's signatures. We let the girls choose 2 signatures they wanted.  They chose Mulan and Mary Poppins - which are on completely opposite ends of the lake!

In China we were waiting for Mulan.  We were next in line when she took a 20 minute break.  Chad waited in line while the girls and I went to look around.  I checked Ana and Elsa's line - 4 hours!
NO WAY!

Finally!

On the way back to Mary Poppins we stopped in Mexico for the Donald Duck boat ride.  Always a classic.

We made the long trek over to Great Britain...only to find out it was going to be over an hour before Mary Poppins came out again.  Schedule fail again. We walked back to Canada to get out of the heat, rest and watch a little movie.  Well...If you've ever been to the Canada movie, you understand.  I almost cried when we walked in and realized it was a 360 theater - with NO SEATS! Seriously? Folks, I can turn my head.  We let our girls sit on the floor and the workers actually came and asked them to stand up!

Back to Mary Poppins...

We found the "line" and ended up in the front.  She was worth the wait!  She talked to our girls for like 15 minutes!

I desperately wanted a crepe from France.  However, it was hot and wearing another human being close to you all day - I was hot and tired.  So we decided to just head back to Test Track - Addison's favorite ride.

Chad and Addison used the fast passes and got the rider swap for Mya and I to use.

Despite being the space height as Soarin', they said Mya was too short to ride.  Poor kid.  She was told that all week.  So i took Addison on Test Track again.

On the way to dinner we stopped to see Mickey.  Out of all the characters, we hadn't seen Mickey.  I thought we needed his signature on their pillowcases!  Thankfully the wait was short!

Dinner in "The Land" was delicious.  Great variety compared to other quick service restaurants.  I know, I know.  We should eat in the World Showcase, but we whatever.  We were done with walking all over the place.  After dinner we made a quick stop at the Monster's Inc. playground and found a spot to watch the fireworks.

Walking en masse out of Epcot.  It was probably one of our more frustrating day because of the fast passes, lines and just never feeling like we got our act together.

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
