Master Bedroom

Decorating Continued...here is the Master Bedroom. I apologize in advance for the not so great quality of pictures. It wasn't the best light...but hey, as a momma of two, I'm lucky to even have a blog, forget the perfect pictures! :) My theme in decorating right now is NO CLUTTER and using things I really like, not just the cheapest thing on the rack. I have a few more things I would like to get for this room, but I'll just wait until I see something that really grabs my attention. My absolute favorite show right now is Sarah's House on HGTV. It comes on Friday and Saturday nights (not sure what time...thank you DVR!). It is only 30 minutes, so once I fast forward the commercials, I can squeeze in an episode pretty easily. Each season she renovates a house and each episode is focused on one room. I love it b/c you see the end product in the same episode. I love her style and wish I had time to stroll through antique stores and auctions to find great deals like...

Decorating continued

Next up - the half-bath. This was actually the first room I painted. This is the paint & primer in one that worked pretty well. We are going for a "Go Army/Beat Navy" theme. Definitely not our idea...we borrowed the Read's idea from their house at West Point. Right now it looks a little more like a USMA room, but over the years, I hope to get more Go Army Beat Navy stuff. Curtains still needed here... Definitely not the best pictures either b/c of the light. Its hard to capture the actual color of the walls with the camera too. Next - the Master Bedroom!

Painting & Decorating

I have spent a good bit of time (and money...thanks to potterybarn.com...) in the past few weeks trying to make our house feel like home! We normally move into a house very quickly and have everything unpacked and on the walls in less than a week. This time it has taken so much longer! For one thing, Chad was already back at work when we moved into the house, so I did all the unpacking by myself. We also bought new bedroom furniture right before we moved, and moved our old furniture into Addison's room. That totally changed the decorating scheme in both rooms. I haven't done a lot of purposeful decorating before, so it has taken me a while to get what I want. Mya's room was probably the easiest... A few updates to the foyer... I have gone a little Uppercase Living crazy in decorating this time. When I bought this expression for the staircase landing I envisioned tons of family photos filling the wall. However, I found these removable/reusable photos from Uppercase Livin...

Skinny Minny...

Addison is 3...this swimsuit was in a box of stuff for Mya. Addison loves to try on clothes, no matter what the size! It is 6-12 months. ha!

4th of July at Sackets

For 4th of July we returned to Sackets Harbor. We took a picnic dinner, went to get ice cream and then stay around for the fireworks. We got there early to get a good picnic spot My new favorite shoes...showing my red white and blue waiting for the fireworks boats gathering in the harbor to watch the fireworks Happy Birthday America! Definitely enjoyed the fireworks, but the traffic getting out was terrible.

Niagara Falls - Canadian Side

We've always been told that the Canadian side of Niagara is so much better than the American, so the next morning, we got up and drove over the bridge into Canada to check it out. I've been to several foreign countries, but this was my first time to drive into one. Thankfully the line wasn't too long, considering the G20 summit was going on just a short drive away in Toronto. Standing across from the falls really did provide a better view, but it felt like it was raining from all the mist! Here's another view of the Maid of the Mist boat tour You can't really even see the falls! The American Falls Horseshoe Falls American Falls Next time we visit we want to go on the tour where you can walk underneath the falls. On the way back across the border, the border patrolman was looking through our car. He asked Addison, "Who are these people?", referring to me and Chad. Of all times for Addison to be shy!! She just looked down. Thankfully he didn't...
