Lucy: Week Two

A few more pictures from the past few weeks... Headed to the airport to pick up Nana and Papa T. Opening their "Big Sister" bags My parents came a few days before Lucy was born and they helped us unpack!  They stayed a week after she was born then took Addison and Mya back to Georgia.  I was sad to see the girls go, knowing they would be gone for three weeks, but I knew that the quiet and rest would be good for Chad, Lucy and me.   Hanging out! The girls having fun in Georgia with their cousins.  I can sleep anywhere! First time at church

Lucy's First Days

When I last left you on the blog, it was the night before going to the hospital to meet Lucy.  Well, so much has happened since then!!  Thanks to everyone for the kind words and prayers for us that morning!  The Lord calmed my nerves and we were feeling good as we prepared to go in very early that Monday morning.  Last moments being pregnant! Checked in and ready to go! My anxiety did increase a little the closer we got to the surgery...the nurse who couldn't get my IV started wasn't helping either.  I still have bruises 3 weeks later!  I had my iPod loaded with encouraging songs and listened as we waited to go back to the OR. When the anesthesiologist came in to check on me, he said I could take my iPod to the OR with me!  Probably not a big deal, but in that moment, it was a comfort for me.  Looking back now, it seems silly that I was more concerned about the c-section than about Lucy considering she was going to be 3 weeks ea...

Baby Eve

So we head to the hospital in just a few hours.  I should be in the bed.  I know.  I really don't need anyone else telling me that.  I just wanted to take a moment and record some thoughts.  I have been asked so many times, "Aren't you so excited??" Well... I have always wanted to baby scenario to be like the movies - water breaking, excitement, driving to the hospital, laboring naturally and a birth with no drugs.  The Lord has obviously had different plans for my childbirth stories.  With Addison I had low amniotic fluid and had to be induced.  I tried laboring naturally and didn't let them break my water for almost 23 hours and gave in to an epidural shortly after.  Mya's birth story is very long, but short version - I was going in for an induction and turned out I was already in labor.  I was so excited!  At 7cm, she flipped sideways, labor stopped and I ended up in an emergency c-section that was anything but calm.  She ...

moving week update & 35 week picture

Four weeks ago my FB status was: "In the next 6 weeks I have to graduate one from kindergarten, one from grad school, move up the hill and have a baby." Four week later we've only crossed one of those things off our list!!  This week starts a crazy pace of life in our family for a little while.  Chad has been done with classes for almost 2 weeks, but finally officially graduates from Columbia tomorrow!  He and I will be going down to the city for that tomorrow.  He also has a graduation ceremony here at West Point on Thursday.  Wednesday I have my last regular OB appointment, and that night we have the Navigators banquet for the graduating Firsties. Friday morning we get the keys to the house and can start moving stuff in!  We are still debating how much to paint and whether or not to pay an arm and a leg to just have it painted before we move in.  Saturday Chad is working West Point's graduation.  Hopefully the girls and I will make it up ther...

Baby Shower for Laura

In the midst of moving madness, I hosted a baby shower for a friend at church, Laura.  Thankfully it wasn't at my house!  The boxes wouldn't have made great decor! Laura and her husband Tanner recently moved here and they lead worship at our church.  They are amazing people and amazing singers/musicians!  They are welcoming baby Eila that same week we are welcoming baby Lucy! I only got a few pictures of the decor.  I consider that a success given my lack of picture taking lately!!  Chad and some friends from church helped with setup and food - couldn't have done it without them! I also have to credit Pinterest for inspiration on the decorations!  I'm just not creative on my own! The brunch food looked yummy...  This cake was a total last minute decision!  I had ordered super cute raspberry cream cheese cake pops, but at 9:30 the night before, the baker emailed me saying she had a family emergency and wouldn't be a...
