Since we had already signed a lease and put a security deposit down on the other house, we decided it wouldn't hurt to talk to the owner about the situation just to see what she would say. Even though she had no reason to let us out of the lease, she said she understood and agreed to let us out of the lease and refund our money. She wanted to know immediately though so she could put it back on the market. We agreed even though we have not officially been offered a house on post. The housing office assures us that the houses will be ready in the next week and that we are sixth in line for 6 brand new houses. Here is an example of the house we should be getting, if all goes well...
It is a duplex (which is typical for Army housing), 3 bedroom, 2.5 bath, 1950 sq ft.
We are excited to try living on post. These houses are right across the street from CYS and down the road from the Commissary and PX. They also remove all the snow during the winter, which is awesome for me!
As life in the Army goes, we can't believe it until the keys are actually in our hand, but hopefully this decision doesn't leave us homeless for long. We'll keep you posted!
So glad to hear an update! Beautiful, brand new house! That would be so exciting! Are you already up in NY, or waiting on the house? Either way, hope that you and the family are well! Miss you and Chad at church and lifegroup!
ReplyDeleteWe miss everyone in Enterprise too! The girls and I are still in GA. We are going up in 2 weeks when Chad gets back from training in Colorado. Good luck on the move to Alaska!!
