Block Leave - Alabama

August was a busy month for us! Chad spent 11 days in Alabama prior to his two week block leave, so I decided to get a head start on vacation and fly to Atlanta while Chad was at Ft. Rucker. I wish I had a picture of me pushing a double stroller, pulling 2 bags while carrying a purse, diaper bag, 2 carry-ons and Addison holding her car seat. We were quite the sight I'm sure, but we made it! I was so proud of my girls on the flight. They were great....especially considering we were flying AFTER bedtime!

After spending a week in Georgia, we headed to Ft. Rucker to pick up Chad. We were excited to spend the evening with our friends Kat & Matt and their girls Kristin and Lilly. Addison and Kristin picked right back up where they left off in Clarksville!

I wish we would have had more time in Alabama. There were so many other people we wanted to see, including all of our friends at Hillcrest! I am sure the Army will bring us back that way sometime soon!

Strength

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun!
