Disney Day 4 - Epcot

Disney Day 4 - Epcot

One word sums up our visit to Epcot - HOT!! The temperature was in the 90's all week, but our last day definitely felt hotter than the rest. Note for planning: DO NOT plan a character breakfast the morning after putting your children to bed at 11:30 after the fireworks at the Magic Kingdom.

Although we only had a Quick Service Dining plan, we decided to do one character breakfast. We gave Addison a couple different choices and she chose the Princess breakfast at Epcot. The experience was good and the food was tasty, but we would not recommend it if you are not on the dining plan. We paid $100 for 3 people and didn't end up eating that much food. Addison was very over tired and let's just say the journey there was a little stressful. I did bring a dress for her to dress up, but that morning I realized I didn't have bobby pins or hair spray therefore, there wasn't a lot I could do with her hair. I've never been good at hair styling, but take away essential tools and I'm worthless! moving on...

Belle was the first princess we met as we walked in. Chad and I are in none of these pictures because we looked rough after basically running through Epcot in 100 degree heat to make it on time due to a delayed bus.

This pretty much sums up how Addison was the whole time...

The princesses walk through and stop at each table. They signed Addison's book, took a picture and talked with her for a short time.

I did try to put this on her, but it wouldn't stay.

After the breakfast we did everything we could to avoid being outside as much as possible. Our kiddos were so tired and poor Mya got sunscreen in her eye and was hot and tired. At one point we almost called it a day, but thankfully Mya fell asleep on Spaceship Earth (the big Ball ride) and we felt like we could stay a little while longer.

One of the best attractions of the day was Turtle Talk with Crush. Crush is the turtle on Finding Nemo and they have an attraction where you can talk to him. It was pretty hilarious. Mya went NUTS during the show. She was laughing and almost wiggled off my lap, she was so excited watching Crush talk.
Another ride we really enjoyed was Soarin' - a hang-gliding ride through California. We didn't get to see all that Epcot has to offer...besides breakfast we didn't set foot in the World Showcase!! It was hot, our kids were tired, and we had to get up really early the next morning for our flight home, so we called it a day.

So that's it! Our Disney trip. It really was fun, but we just had to keep reminding ourselves, there was no way we could fit even a fraction of what Disney has to offer into our short visit. Addison had a blast and we did too. As far as planning, I wouldn't do anything different for this stage in our lives. When our kids get a little older, and a little calmer at the dinner table, we will do the table service dining with more character meals.

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
