Disney Day 3

A Magical Day! Maybe its just me, but there is something so exciting about going to the Magic Kingdom. We took advantage of the extra magic hour - the park opening one hour early for resort guests. If you know Chad and me, you know that we didn't go into the Magic Kingdom without a plan to conquer every ride. :) We used the website operationpixiedust to map out our plan. If you are going to Disney, only have 1 day at the Magic Kingdom and want to make the most of your time, I highly recommend his plan! We honestly did not wait longer than 5 minutes for a ride all day!
We arrived before the park opened and got to see the dancing and pageantry of the park opening.
Addison had her ears on and was ready to go!
Nothing quite like seeing the castle, especially with Snow White and Alice walking in front of you! When Addison saw it, she said "its so big!"

First ride - Dumbo
Snow White - after the Tower of Terror, Addison didn't like this ride too much.
Winnie the Pooh
The ride Addison was looking forward to the most was the Tea Cups. We literally walked onto almost every ride all day long. There was only 1 other group on the ride with Addison and Chad.
As Addison was getting off the ride with Chad, Alice in Wonderland and the White Rabbit were getting on the ride with 2 other girls. I think Alice mistakenly asked Addison if she was riding too, so Addison jumped in their group! The Cast Member who escorted the other girls said once they were on the ride "Where did that other girl come from??" ha! She enjoyed it!
Waiting on Daddy to ride the Big Thunder Mountain Railroad
Brave girl riding with Mommy! She loved it!
While Mya was sleeping, Chad took Addison on Splash Mountain -what a long ride!

A trip on a flying carpet
Swiss Family Robinson Treehouse - one of my favorite attractions when I was little

Pirates of the Carribean
A visit with pirate Goofy
Meeting Jasmine and Aladdin
Jungle Cruise - my dad could totally be a guide on this ride - such silly humor!
Headed for Tomorrowland!

Magic Kingdom Block Party - again, too hot to hang out for too long
Lunch at Cosmic Ray's. Addison LOVED this robot's "act" during lunch.
Buzz Lightyear Ride, or as Addison says "Buzz Light"
When heading out for nap time, we got to see a parade on Main Street USA.

Waiting for the bus after nap time.
Addison's favorite character - "Cluto" We had been looking for him everywhere! Too bad we found him in the baking hot sun!
As we came back in, they were having a flag retreat ceremony. It is one of the original events from Disneyland. It is nice that the flag was honored even at a busy place like Disney World.
Since it was still so hot, we took advantage of some indoor attractions. Mickey's PilharMagic was probably our favorite attraction of the whole trip! It is a 3D movie of classic Disney songs.
Cinderella's Carousel
In the Hall of Fame in Toontown, you can meet the Disney Princesses and the Fairies. The lines were long and we didn't have time to do both, so we chose the princesses. Looking back we probably should have chosen the fairies because we met the princesses again the next morning at breakfast.
Meeting Cinderella

Showing Cinderella her nails. The princesses were very sweet and took a lot of time to talk to Addison. What a fun job!

Belle
Sleeping Beauty - Addison's favorite
Then we went next door to visit with Mickey and Minnie
We finally made it back to Space Mountain to use the Fast Passes we had been holding all day! Great ride....definitely not as dramatic as I remember though.
The People Mover - another favorite from my childhood! I'm sure Mya thought we were crazy..."Mom, its bedtime! Where are we??"
Waiting on Main Street USA for the Electrical Parade - classic!! Just the atmosphere itself is fun. Definitely had a "you know your a mom when..." moment. Standing shoulder to shoulder with people, helping Addison squeeze to the front (after an invitation to do so by the people in front of us), taking pictures, all while leaning over the stroller feeding Mya baby food at 9 PM. Definitely not the norm for me, but hey, its vacation!

The only time we saw Tinkerbell the whole trip!

After the parade, we headed back toward the castle to get a good spot for the fireworks.
Spectacular fireworks made the perfect end to a magical day!

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...

Change of Command

Here are a few pictures from Chad's Change of Command Ceremony. I hope to get more pictures from the official photographer that day. I didn't get any pictures of myself and my White House Black Market dress! :) The Food... Chad and I aren't huge fans of cake, so we got a cookie cake instead from a local bakery. I wish I had taken a picture of the entire table, but I only at time for a few pictures. Everyone was pretty impressed with the spread. My mom taught me how to prepare lots and lots of food and how to make it tasty! Addison kept snagging food before the ceremony started! C-Troop Taking Command! So proud of Chad! We look forward to serving with the Outcast family!

Lake Placid

Over Columbus Day, we decided to take advantage of the time for one more family trip before the deployment. Lake Placid has been on our list of places we wanted to go and we chose to wait until the fall to enjoy seeing all the leaves changing in the Adirondacks. The leaves were a little past peak, but it was still beautiful.  To understand how much we enjoyed this trip, you have to understand how much we enjoy the Olympics.  Let's just say we are Olympic fanatics...the Atwells would understand. :)  On our way in to town, we stopped had lunch at a recommended BBQ place. That afternoon, we only had time to go to one venue before they closed for the day.  If you don't know the history, Lake Placid hosted the Winter Olympics in 1932 and 1980 and is still a site for Olympic training.  First stop - Bobsled, Combination Track   You can pay to ride down the 1932 bobsled course.  It looked fun! After the Bobsled track, we headed back to the hotel and ...
