Disney Day 2

Day 2 at Disney brought us to Hollywood Studios. Again, it was VERY hot!! Next time we go to Disney it will definitely be during the winter!

We started the day off by getting Fast Passes to The Tower of Terror and the Aerosmith ride. Fast Passes allow you to get a ticket to ride the ride later and by pass the line. Addison wasn't tall enough to ride Aerosmith, so Chad and I took turns. It is a roller coaster in the dark - probably the best thrill ride we rode! Awesome!
Within a few minutes of being in the park, we had already spent a good bit on 2 souvenirs for Addison. Sunglasses - because I forgot hers and this mister fan. I knew when I saw these the first day we would end up with one. Addison had a blast with it all week long.
Little Miss Mya was such a trooper! She rode, slept, ate and battled the heat in the stroller all week long!
Meeting Handy Manny & the Little Einsteins
The busiest place in the park was the Pixar area! As the week went on, we got better at figuring out which rides to get Fast Passes for first. Unfortunately, by the time we got to the Toy Story ride, all of the fast passes for the day were gone and the line was over an hour long. We tried coming back later, but didn't want to fight the line with 2 tired kiddos.

One of my favorite parts of the Hollywood Studios are the street acts. The soldiers from Toy Story are always a good time!

These people were hilarious! We had just come from the Baby Care Center - Bravo to Disney for such great centers for nursing, changing, feeding, etc...! Addison was a little frazzled because Chad had just taken her on the Tower of Terror. Yes, he took a 3 year old girl on a ride called the TOWER OF TERROR! ha! Poor kid. She was very unsure of any ride in the dark after that.
Back to the picture...he kept moving his chair in front of the stroller as we were trying to get passed. The lady, the subject of his "photo shoot" kept posing dramatically every time I took the camera out. She kept telling us how cute our kids were..."You guys do great work. Great work. You should definitely have more kids!" lol
Honey I Shrunk the Kids play area.

I asked one of the workers why some of the toys were different (not in the movie), he laughed and said "Corporate sponsorship."
Meeting Mike Wazowski!

Street Block Party We didn't stay long, it was just too hot

Chad and Addison went to see the Playhouse Disney show - a highlight of the day for Addison. Mya and I stayed outside because she was asleep in the stroller. Chad had to do the same thing earlier in the day for the Beauty and the Beast show. I understand why they make you park strollers, there are just too many, but it was tough to let Mya sleep when we had to keep getting her out of the stroller.

Cooling off in the pool after a very hot day!
One of the best ideas I got for our trip was buying souvenirs before we went. This was the "surprise bag" that made an appearance every night with shirts, dolls, pjs, etc.. purchased at home. It helped cut down on buying things in the park.
Up next - The Magic Kingdom!

Curriculum Review 2017-18

Curriculum Review 2017-18 I believe I started last year's post by saying "This was the most difficult school year to date." While overall it was a good year, it was different kind of difficult.  A deployment and chronic mastitis were replaced with starting a new Co-Op and writing a book.   While I don't know that I would recommend writing a book in 10 months while homeschooling, during one of the busiest seasons of your husband's job, I am thankful for the year we had.  The past year brought more personal growth for me than any other year.  Homeschooling truly is a refining fire and I am thankful for the lessons we all learn in the process.   Here’s a roundup of what we used this year and how it worked for us: Addison – 5 th  Grade Bible, History, Literature, Geography & Writing – Tapestry of Grace, Year 2, Dialectic...

Strength

Blogs are interesting.  Some share decorating ideas, some political philosophy, some day to day happenings and many more pictures of family and friends.  We keep everyone updated on the fun events and happy occasions of our everyday lives.  While some people take it a bit to far, I think most of us are not always so quick to share those not so happy moments though...  The moments that we fail completely as a parent.  The moments that we are to busy to stop and help.  The moments we sit in silence and wonder why.  The moments when life is just flat out hard.  In a few weeks I will watch my husband go off to war.   In a few weeks I will have to help a little 3 year old mind grasp how long a year is and how far away daddy will be.   I just found out this morning that my aunt passed away.   Next week the list of names I know on headstones at Arlington will get a little bit longer.  I ache for my friends whose husbands won'...
